Generalized Scene Reconstruction
نویسندگان
چکیده
The feasibility of new passive approach to 3D reconstruction, called Generalized Scene Reconstruction (GSR), is explored in this paper. Generalized scenes are defined to be "boundless" spaces that include non-Lambertian, partially transmissive, textureless and finely-structured matter. GSR enables such scenes to be effectively reconstructed by devicesusing-scene-reconstruction (DSRs) such as mobile phones, augmented reality (AR) glasses and drones. A new data structure called a plenoptic octree is introduced to enable efficient (database-like) light and matter field reconstruction in DSRs. To satisfy threshold requirements for reconstruction accuracy, scenes are represented as systems of partially polarized light interacting with matter. To demonstrate GSR, a prototype imaging polarimeter is used to reconstruct, by sensing and modeling generalized polarimetric light fields, highly reflective, haildamaged automobile body panels. Follow-on GSR experiments are described. Keywords—Inverse Light Transport, Volumetric Scene Reconstruction, Non-Lambertian Scene Reconstruction, Visual SLAM, Imaging Polarimetry.

3d Vision Techniques and Applications to Photo- Realistic Scene Reconstruction
We present some novel concepts for the scene geometry recovery by a multi-camera system. A new global appearance measure is introduced for a novel generalized scene recovery methodology, called “the appearance-cloning.” For the efficient calibration of the multi-camera system, we investigate the projective properties of the concentric circle pattern. Specifically, two algebraic constraints from...
متن کاملGeneralized 3D Area Matching and Multicamera Reconstruction for Scene Analysis
We propose a method for close-range 3D reconstruction of objects from stereo correspondence of luminance patches which works with an arbitrary multi-camera geometry. The area matching process is performed in 3D space as it takes both perspective and radiometric distortion into account. An implementation of the technique with a calibrated set of three standard TV-resolution CCD cameras is presen...

Detailed geometric models of the real world are in increasing demand. LiDAR data is appropriate to reconstruct such models. For urban reconstruction, it works well to reconstruct the individual surfaces of the scene and connect them to form the scene geometry. There are various methods for reconstructing the free-form shape of a point sample on a single surface. However, these methods do not ta...
متن کاملGeneralized Plenoptic Sampling
Image-based rendering (IBR) has become a very active research area in recent years. The optimal sampling problem for IBR has not been completely solved. In this paper, we show that theoretically, the optimal sampling efficiency can be achieved by employing the generalized periodic sampling theory with arbitrary geometry. When there is no occlusion in the scene and the scene is Lambertian, we sh...
